Abstract

Congenital lung malformations represent a disruption in development of functional pulmonary parenchyma and normal distribution of pulmonary vasculature. Prenatal imaging studies have become widely accessible tools for detection of congenital anomalies, contributing to increase the incidence of this condition. However classification, diagnosis and management remains the main challenge in clinical practice. We present the case of a newborn with a congenital pulmonary airway malformation, initially detected through routine obstetric ultrasound and subsequently confirmed postnatally with computed tomography and histopathological analysis. this case report aims to describe a disease with a complex classification and variable  clinical course.
